|0004611||[Squeak] Morphic||feature||N/A||08-21-06 08:08||04-15-07 23:34|
|ETA||none||Fixed in Version||Product Version||3.10|
|Summary||0004611: [Enh] Collapsing a morph should look like the morph it collapses .|
Two and a half enhancements.
Now all morphs not in System Windows collapse to a thumbnail icon.
Now #collapse message explicitly returns the collapsed morph so it can be programmatically uncollapsed later.
System windows can now be told to explicitly uncollapse. Previously they could only toggle their collapsed state.
|Steps To Reproduce|
I needed a way to temporarily collapse a morph for an application.
While I was at it I noticed there was no reason sketch morph needed to be special. ( I keep remembering Image morphs are supposed to replace sketch morphs one day.) So I moved its collapse behavior to morph.

Could improve for pressing uncollapse brings the original morph ?
And what SystemWindows also collapse to tumbnails ?
Maybe I ask too much.

Thanks for your feed back.
I need to separate out some issues.
1) As it currently stands are you willing to include the enhancement in 3dot10 or is there something else I would absolutely need to do to win acceptance. (I.E. if I do it it definitely gets accepted)
2) re: Could improve for pressing uncollapse brings the original morph ?
Can you be specific?
What does it do now that you do not approve?
What do you wish it to do?
Right now AFAIK the pressing uncollapse work just as sketchmorphs would do it. No better, no worse.
I did not try to design anything else into it. That decision was made both to preserve my self-funded time and to not risk taking things past the point of acceptance.
3) It would be nice to iconize system windows also. I held off here because a lot of time and energy (a lot of code too) was put into making the system windows collapse. I was sure to offend someone if I changed it. At least if I changed it before getting general acceptance.
So changing that would mean knowning a lot more than I knew when I wrote this.
Known lacks: The real estate manager works for the system windows excluively and does not consider the icons. And a real estate manager for icons would be the most desired next enhancement.
Thanks for your interest.
Yours in friendship and service, --Jerome Peace
