|Summary:||0007329: Mother for Ubuntu specific issues in installing and running squeak.|
I needed to install squeak on a Ubuntu 8.04 system. And ran into some interesting problems.
Starting with my own ignorance of Ubuntu.
As I start bringing them up separately I thought it would be good to have a place to tie them together.
|Steps To Reproduce:|
Among the issues:
While you can get etoys installed by visiting squeakland.
How do you go about installing squeak from squeakdev?
Having installed it the icon is rather uncolorful and in particular has a transparent background. This is ok on a light background like the menu's but when made into a launcher on the default desktop you get a low contrast black on dark brown. Can we get some more colorful icons?
After having installed a squeakvm on the system what is the best way to launch various images?
So basicly better documentation. And somewhat better accomodations.
Ideally I would like to see a drop on launcher for Ubuntu.
On an empty one you drop on a vm and it fills the vm slot.
You create instance by copying and then drop on an image, it fills the image slot.
Then you drop on a project and you get a launcher that starts up an image and has it read the project.
These should all be handled in separate reports. I've indulged myself here by writing them in this summary so I don't have to start those reports tonight.
Yours in curiosity and service, --Jerome Peace
