This would be nice to have, but I am not convinced as to the benefit of it. In what way do you think we could benefit the visitor with this type of information? Change the order of the menu? Remove menu items? |

It could track the best way of several ways to reach the same page. Take my sample homepage. There is the menu. There are links embedded in the "What Next..." text. Knowing that they use the embedded links often could tell us they like to read. If no one uses the embedded links, that section might be useless. If no links below the top of the page are clicked, then the adage is true that visitors never page down and we may need to cram more info, like the hot links, higher on the page. We could find out which projects or teams are most interesting and promote those higher in the navigation tree. We haven't turned on the breadcrumbs. Maybe that might be more popular still saving more screen real estate. |

New Aida/Scribo based website has now real-time statistics of visits and referals. Visits are counted for every page but currently shown just first page. See http://www.squeak.org/stat.html. [^] Because visits are already counted we can add link to the stats for every page easily. For example the Download page: http://www.squeak.org/stat.html?url=/Download/ [^] So, shall we do that? |
