|Summary||0005849: Linux library references|
The library loader within Squeak is looking for libGL.so and libopenal.so on Linux. However, the actual Linux libraries have version numbers, so the Croquet.sh script attempts to create links.
- It would be nice to have Squeak find the right libraries without needing to make links.
- If we do make links, it would be nice to make them in the Croquet directory rather than requiring the permissions necessary to make the links in system directories like /usr/lib/.
- The SDK Croquet.sh doesn't make the link for libopenal at all.
- OpenALUnix has some notes in it about needing to figure out why it's not finding the right libraries in the normal way.

For OpenGL at least there is no need to create a symlink at all. It's sufficient to use "libGL.so.1" in the image. This has been discussed before:
