Summary | 0006545: How do we delete obsolete Mantis logins? | |||||||||||
Description |
Mantis is run as an open forum. Anyone can be come a reporter by signing up with their email address. If their email address becomes dead, then what? |
|||||||||||
Additional Information |
A policy is needed. If I need to get intouch with someone who has written a report I would try to reach him by sending a reminder . That will fail if the email address for a reporter is no longer current. Furthurmore it is necessary to periodically check for currency as with any mailing list. And there needs to be some way of keeping track of people who at one point had one nickname and now report under another. If mail is sent to an old address contact can be lost. Recommendation: At regular intevals everyone who is listed in the reminder list should be sent an automatic "do you still want to be listed letter" . Dead email accounts should cause reporters to be dropped. Requests for removal should be honored. No response, the default, would not change the status of the reporter. There should probably also be an simple way for anyone to explicity request their removal at any time. (With confirmation via email to and from the address of record) Yours in curiosity and service, -Jerome Peace |
