Summary 0002083: Opening an Explorer list item on a good sized bit map takes forever.
Description Get a reasonable sized image. ( I found this with a color image which had a bitmap of about 20000 bytes. )
Using the debug handle get an explorer on the item.
toggle open the color form,
then toggle open the bitmap.

Squeak seemed to go away forever. I forgot what I had asked and moused on some other morphs. Finally I used the user interupt to stop the process.

As the interupt took hold it was like the scene at the castle of sleeping beauty all the ququed events resumed their functions and rearraged my world as best the event handler knew how. Very amusing but not the kind of responsiveness that squeak was meant to have.
Additional Information Squeak should do something better than blindly try to do so much just because it was asked to.

It would make more sense to limit the number of sublist items opened and add a list item offering to open more.

Or for large lists open a sublist of ranges of items ( say maybe a sub list for each 100 items) rather than try to open 10000 subitems all at once.

If I didn't want it to be fun I wouldn't be using squeak.
