This is very minor.
Why are the portals only one sided? In Alans case shaking the screen allows you to see through but only one way.
IMHO, some thought could be given to making portals double sided.

|Thinking about it. I did this in ICE (Interactive Collaboration Environment - the original 1994 prototype of Croquet) and liked it a lot. All windows were double sided - which meant that your collaborators could comfortably be on the opposite side of the window from you and work with you. The portals have a bit more complexity, as a portal is actually a 2D surface that you can see through. For some kinds of portals, this would be fine.|
